WebLight Freelance Web Design and eMarketing is owned and operated by
me, Brent J. Trethewey, based in Gisborne, New Zealand – First city in
the world to see the sun each day!
It is a
continuation of a 27 year career involved with Gisborne businesses
that has seen a number of successful years as a professional in
Sales & Marketing - nearly 15 - particularly in the
Telecommunications arena, in Advertising (local radio), and in the
Finance Industry.
I am also the
Pastor and founder of a locally based Christian Assembly - Evening
Light Believers - of some
nineteen (19) years in conjunction with my
sales career, and during this time have been a
convention speaker throughout New Zealand and in various countries including Australia,
Singapore, Trinidad, USA, Canada, France, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
I have also taken sales workshops in some of these countries
increasing sales in one company - a large national - by 50% in the
first twelve months after the course with it's sales force.

At the start of 1996
I left the 'commercial world' as a sales
professional to concentrate on my ministry. During the latter part
of 1998, I started utilising
these skills in the new
communication highway - the Internet. Initially this was seen as a
medium that could be used very effectively promulgate worldwide the
Christian message. I started
The Evening Light
website both
as its designer and webmaster. This involved building, maintaining
and running the Web Server to host the site, software, graphics,
databases, coding languages and everything that a website entails.
Having a
six
year ‘apprenticeship’ under my belt I believe the opportunity is
right to offer my skills again to the wider business community,
that they might also utilise the internet, and in the first quarter
of 2004 launched
"WebLight Freelance - Web Design and eMarketing".
I have spent
hundreds of hours researching, and gaining hands on experience with
most aspects of web site production and marketing. My knowledge of
the internet is extensive, and I’m sure you will find my
professional, but personal approach, to helping you with your
Internet solutions a big advantage - the ‘F’ in Freelance stands for
‘Flexibility’.
Because the internet
is changing so rapidly, I don’t pretend to know it all, instead
specialising in the overall design of web sites with copywriting and
graphics ensuing that the sites perform well.
On larger jobs or very specialist projects, I use
Partnerships with other specialist internet businesses and
individuals, enabling him to concentrate on the design and project
management, and they on the coding and scripting. I combine
usability philosophies with graphic design and search engine
optimisation, to produce websites that not only look good, but work
well too.
The slogan of
WebLight Freelance (as on the first page of this brochure) is
“Getting YOUR message across”
- and that is exactly my approach. I am not a graphics artist
turned web designer, or a computer whiz kid who can use coding
languages to make a website do the most amazing things … As a
communicator I understand business and its communication needs.
Whether it was using the right PBX phone system or advertising on
the local radio, it has always been about the client’s ability to
service their customers using the right tool for the job.
My purpose
using this medium is no different - and I want to have your business
moving from ‘Bricks
to Clicks’ with “an
exceptionally
high degree of commercial awareness”
